1871 Census - Dorothy SHARP has remarried James STONEHOUSE, occupation Blacksmith, living in Monk Wearmouth Shore, Sunderland, Co. Durham. Living with them were sons George SHARP age 31 and John SHARP age 24, occupation for both sons are Labourer.

One record, the England & Wales, FreeBMD Death Index: 1837-1915 states George Sharp died September 8, 1880 in a coal mining explosion along with 164 other coal miners in Seaham Colliery, Easington. He was 39, and his occupation was Stoneman, residence 9 Model Street, Seaham, Co. Durham. His wife Margaret HUGHES SHARP age 40 is shown as a Widow in the 1881 Census with children George Jr., Charles Wm., John Thomas, Benjamin and Lydia at No 4 Church St., Seaham, Easington, Co. Durham. However, a conflicting record shows he is alive in 1901 Census as George SHARP living with his mother Dorothy STONEHOUSE, Widow age 84, he is age 60 and listed as ‘crippled’. Their address 243 North Millburn, Sunderland.

1922 Transatlantic Ship Records show the Benjamin SHARPE family emigrated to Canada aboard the S.S. Marloch on Dec. 23, 1922 from Sunderland, NE England, arriving on Jan. 1923 in St. John, New Brunswick. Their final destination was Rosedale, Alberta, a major coal mining town near Drumheller, Alberta to join their son George SHARPE who had emigrated previously for work as coal miner. Their religion is noted on their record as Protestant. Benjamin SHARPE died in Dec. 30, 1956, and is buried in the Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver, BC. The Pallbearers were George Sharpe, Jack Sharpe, Chris Sharpe, Ben Sharpe, Eric Wallbank and Alfred Simpson.

Florence May SHARPE, was born October 6, 1909 at Fourth Cross Row, The Haswell Plough, Haswell Road, Sub-district Dawdon, County Durham, District of Easington in N.E. England. She was the only daughter of Benjamin SHARPE and Isabella WALLACE SHARPE. She died Jan. 2011 age 101. Her oldest daughter was Myrtle Judy SHARPE born March 26, 1929. Judy SHARPE's father was Jack John Oscar David MARTIN. Florence SHARPE later married Alfred SIMPSON and had three more children.
